image Dr.Vijayendra Murthy is one of the key-figures in Australasian natural health care. He is an Indian born New Zealander who has an amazing sense of translating his profound eastern wisdom and in-depth professional knowledge into the wellness strategies.

Brought up in spiritual surroundings in India, Dr. Murthy absorbed the essence of the Ayurvedic classics from early childhood. He learnt Sanskrit, the most ancient language of the world, at the age of 5, before he learnt English.

Dr. Murthy is an Indian-born doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine as well a researcher and lecturer of Naural Health. He qualified with a BMS and MS in Ayurvedic surgery from the University of Bangalore and a master of public health from the University of Auckland. Working at Indian hospitals and health centers for a decade, Dr. Murthy has an extensive clinical, as well as academic experience in both biomedical and Ayurvedic healthcare.

As Academic Leader and Research Fellow at Wellpark College of Natural Therapies, Auckland, Dr Murthy develops new Diploma and Graduate Courses in Natural Health. He aims to address current needs in health education by fostering cross-disciplinary health promotion and research.

Dr. Murthy also teaches research at Hassan University in India and is an active research collaborator of NORPHCAM (Network of researchers in public health for Complementary and Alternative Medicine), University of Queensland, Australia.

He has begun new developmental work in Complementary Health education at international forums in Sidney, Bangalore, Colombo, Japan, Austria, Germany and the United States and trains Ayurvedic educators through postgraduate programs in India and New Zealand. Dr.Murthy's current Public Health focus is on researching the positionality of Ayurvedic medicine in western health care frame-works.

Dr. Murthy has been a panel expert for accrediting a Bachelor's degree in Naturopathy by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and chairs the New Zealand Ayurvedic Practitioners Association.
